I feel a cold shiver run up my spine when I ponder the 08 election for the presidency. Our nation is in crises when the best we offer up as leaders are Rudy, Hillary, Obama, and Fred, the top four contenders. At first I was kind of excited about Thompson but always when talking about him said I needed to know more before I could back him. Then I was nearly convinced to get behind Rudy because he would be tough on the Islamists, and probably cut taxes, and likely nominate good Supreme court justices, a very enticing argument indeed. There is just that pesky abortion thing and the homosexual marriage thing. I listened to the anguish in Dr James Dobsons voice in an interview with Sean Hannity. Thankfully Sean made the same arguments I had been making to myself. At least Rudy could beat Clinton. Rudy would be better than Hillary. Lesser of two evils. We don't want another Ginsberg on the Court do we? There's just that pesky abortion thing and the gay marriage thing. Dr Dobson also talked with Sean about Rudy and that pesky adultery thing. "I don't get involved with a persons private life", Sean said, "just with what his public policy will be". Dr Dobson replied that it went to his character and he couldn't vote for him. I don't presume to speak for Dr. Dobson but I think I understand where he was coming from. Abortion, homosexuality, adultery, its these kind of things are what are destroying America. There are many others as well but, destroyed is destroyed. If you shoot me in the head with a colt 45 or a 357 magnum I'm just as dead. Hillary will try and placate the Islamists, lead us into full fledge Socialism, certainly appoint liberal Supreme Court Justices, (45) Rudy would just continue socially liberal policy's that undermine our Christian heritage and moral underpinnings (357).
So many things are stacking up on Uncle Sam's shoulders that I'm not sure the old man's knees won't buckle under the pressure.
The Republican party seems convinced it can move more to the left and shed themselves of those picky Christians. They seem to want to abandon their basic plank on abortion. That worked so well with ...umm, what was his name....oh yea, Bob Dole. If Republicans want to abandon Christians, and as a result Hillary Clinton is elected dictator of the United States, don't whine about Christians abandoning the party, it left us. I get physically sick when I ponder her winning that election, but this lesser of two evils crap is wearing very very thin.
This is all starting to have a very bad smell to it, I mean this is so insane it seems to my little bitty mind that it must be contrived somehow. This is not rocket science really. Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush now bride of Clinton....give me a break. That surely must give even you lefty's pause...doesn't it? THINK! If your optimistic about our future, write me and tell me about it, I could use some.
Just my opinion

With the candidates you mention, I can understand your pessimism. You could open up to lower rating candidates to find one you can support. Join his campaign and work your butt off for him. Win or lose, you have the satisfaction you did your best to help the country.[SMILE]

True enough, I'm looking hard at Tom Tancredo (don't know the spelling). Probably that's what I'll do.

I don't know why in this world I said Tom Tancredo, I must have been reading something about him or something. The person of interest to me right now is Mike Huckabee. Sorry...[SMILE]
